Background:
At HomeBrew Con 2017, a small group of AABGers was walking around the exhibition hall on the last day, and we happened to stop by the Briess booth. Their grain giveaway for that year was their new Copper Malt and as they had many bags leftover that they didn’t want to transport back, they offered us a bag to bring home to share with the club.

We came up with the idea to do a brewola (everyone brews the same recipe). After polling the interested brewers we decided to brew a Biere de Garde, which gave us a little flexibility on yeast choice. Overall we determined that even a high percentage of the Copper Malt makes a good beer – something we weren’t sure about with a specialty grain.

We met and shared our Copper Malt Biere de Garde on April 13th, 2018.
