The July Beer-BQ will be hosted by Rick and Diane Monier, starting at 1:00 PM on Saturday, July 12. The Beer-BQ is our annual family-oriented picnic. The whole family is encouraged to come and enjoy, including children. We will have a bounce house for the kids. We will have dinner starting about 4 or 5 PM, and you can stay overnight if you bring camping gear. Please add your name to the sign up list and let us know what you plan to bring.
Read more about the meeting online, including an interactive map to the location.
In contrast to most AABG meetings, this is a members-only event. If you’re thinking about joining, please check back at the August meeting.
Diane writes: We live on a small shallow lake which is great for kayaking, canoeing, and just splashing around. Â This is kid friendly. Â Our address is 13511 Island Lake Rd, Chelsea MI 48118. Â Our phone number is 734-475-3835. Â Please call or email if you have any questions. Â We do need some help with set up and clean up on Sunday. Â We have have plenty of room for camping overnight, Please stay over, especially if you have to much to drink. Â Come to have fun!!
Rick will roast a pig. It should be ready between 4 and 5. Please bring a dish to pass and beer to share. We will provide root beer and water. Please bring ice — you can never have too much.
You are welcome to bring water toys, kayaks, and canoes. There are clams in the lake so water shoes are recommended. We will have a swimming area roped off for the kids. Bring dry clothes and towels if you plan to get wet.
Bring lawn chairs if you have them. We will have a bonfire in the evening. Bring warm clothes (jacket and pants) as it is generally 10 degrees colder than in town because of breezes from the water. Bring bug repellent, sunscreen, and a flashlight if you plan to stay after dark.
The Monier “KOA” will be open for business, so everyone is invited to bring their tent, camper, RV or truck and stay overnight. Breakfast will be served in the morning.
Diane and Rick would appreciate help Friday after work or early Saturday to help set up, and help Sunday morning to break it all down.
